Dance with Abandon - Acrylic on Canvas 36 x 48

Biography
My professional career has been as a psychologist and family therapist. I
have had a private practice in North Vancouver for over 18 years. The desire to paint has been with me all my life. However, raising a family, my clinical work and other obligations took precedent. I began to paint about 14 years ago, taking periodic workshops but in recent years, the inner urge has grown from a desire to a strong need. I have taken classes both on the North Shore and Vancouver and received mentoring from several more established, professional artists.

Art is a priority in my life and I paint daily in my home studio. My inspiration comes from nature, particularly flowers. It is said, "flowers are an expression in form of that which is most high, most sacred and ultimately formless within ourselves...like messengers from another realm." (E. Tolle) I find painting to be meditative and restorative, connecting me to my deepest self.

Artist Statement
The images I currently paint are mainly taken from my garden and neighborhood. I photograph the images that reach out to me and pull me in. I love flowers and am inspired by them. They are so powerful in their beauty and for me an expression of the divine that never ceases to move me. Flowers enrich all of our lives. My desire is that my art bring joy and nurture the spirit of the viewer.
